Today was a very fun day for us all. Our guide, Steed, took us to the Lanzhou Park & Zoo. It is situated near mountains and not only was the view amazing, but the weather was perfect at around 65 degrees with a slight breeze blowing. We had a blast getting to really see the culture and meet the Chinese people. There were several gatherings in the park where the Chinese had assembled an "opera" and were performing. Many of the people approached us and admired Abby and asked about her. We especially enjoyed meeting the elderly Chinese people. Even though we couldn't speak the same language, a lot can be said with eye contact and smiles! We did expereince a little bit of the Chinese people "getting in our space" when a woman checked Abby's diaper (without asking) and informed us she needed to be changed. We took it in stride and changed her right away even though we had just changed her and she was barely wet:0) Abby met a little friend at one of the operas that wanted to play with her so badly, but she was scared by the loud music and just wanted to get away! Inside the park there was a Buddhist Temple, Monks, and places to burn incense. Jawanna asked to take a picture of one little girl in a beautiful dress and that pleased her mother very much. Abby fell asleep before we even got to the zoo and slept through the whole thing, but all in all she loved being outside and around people. We ended our tour by going shopping for some things Abby needed and eating lunch at KFC. As far as we know, this was Abby's first time to eat KFC and she loved it! She really liked the french fries and ketchup and drank a lot of the lemonade. It's a whole new world, Abby!
