Abby ate a good lunch today of chicken & dumplings, potatoes au gratin, & honeydew melon. About 2 1/2 hours later we had to give her some medication orally and she threw everything up she had eaten. We had to change her entire bed and bathe her again. When Dr. Blount made his rounds today we asked if we could sit her up to feed her. Previously the nursing staff had said we had to leave Abby laying perfectly flat because of the tube in her head. But we are at a point of desperation! Now Dr. Blount is allowing us to cut the valve off to the tube and sit her up long enough to eat a meal. Please help us pray that this will be the key to Abby being able to keep her food down. She gets so weak from the vomiting and dehydration.
Dr. Blount was very encouraging today and we were so appreciative to have a doctor who cares about what we're going through. He told us that he wasn't being dismissive, but much of what we have been going through with Abby the last few days is pretty normal. Most babies go through the puking, bladder and bowel issues, etc. after a major surgery like this and it will pass. He said overall she is recovering remarkably well with no major problems. So even in the midst of what feels like a storm, we continue to Praise God for good reports!
