Surgery Plans

We met Dr. Rozzelle (the new surgeon) this afternoon and he was really nice. He took a lot of time answering all of our questions and gave us some options. After we talked about it, we decided to go ahead with the surgery. If we just unhook the tube from Abby's head and wait to see what happens, the possibility of her getting meningitis is greatly increased. Plus if she begins having spinal fluid leakage from her surgery site or the tube site in the future, we would be forced to have the surgery anyway. It was all a lot to think about, but we feel that it is in Abby's best interest to have this problem fixed permanently. We are very thankful that we have the option of having the alternative surgery instead of a shunt because most kids Abby's age just do not qualify medically. Dr. Rozzelle was able to tell us that the CT scan from this morning did not show any major blood vessels in the way and he does not forsee any problems. Hallelujah! We trust our new doctor to do a great job for our Abby. Our confidence is in God, not in man. It is God that gives man ability. Her surgery will be around 12:00 tomorrow. Thank you all for your prayers, fasting, and support.

This is Kelly playing with Abby. She has been Abby's CA almost every night since we have been here and has done a great job. Kelly has went far above and beyond the call of duty to help us, even offering to babysit Abby when she was off the clock. Thank you, Kelly, for being so good to our Abby! We appreciate you!

Mrs. Helen Martin, a lady who heard about Abby but doesn't know us, made this beautiful baby blanket Abby is sporting. She even monogrammed "Yes, Jesus Loves Me" (one of Abby's very favorite songs) around the edge. Thank you for the beautiful gift, Mrs. Helen! Abby loved her blanket!

I love that beautiful smile, Abby! Looks like you're going to need a U-Haul to get your new toys and gifts back to Mobile. So many people love you and are praying for you and your Mommy & Daddy. We know God is in control and His plan and timing are perfect. Hugs & kisses, Peppi, Gary & Dalton
